Just Bring Yourself (But Don't Come Empty-Handed)

They said, "Just bring yourself."

She said, "Seriously. Don't bring anything."

So naturally, they brought something.

You already know how this goes. The host means it. And you still aren't walking through that door with your two long hands.

Why nobody really comes empty-handed

Somebody opened their home. They cooked all day, set the table and made room for everybody. Showing up with something is how you say thank you before you even sit down.

So you bring the Sorrel. You bring the foil tray. You bring yourself, and maybe Marcus.

Nobody asked for any of it. Everybody is glad it came. And honestly? That's part of the love.

What to bring: Classic Jamaican Sorrel

Sorrel is the deep red drink that tells you it's a holiday. Ours is steeped with ginger and spice, and it belongs on the table next to whatever came in that foil tray.

It also solves the question every guest has on the drive over: what do I bring that the host will be happy to see? A bottle of Sorrel gets opened, poured and passed around. It never ends up at the back of a cupboard.
